What's the point of aesthetic exploration? Why mess with process and its unpredictable results? Why be a painter in 2010?
Individual artistic investigations are usually very different from socially interactive ones. Where one goes and what one finds and produces is different from art which is made to guide audience experience, or to provoke social dialogue. These are all worthy endeavors, but different in intent and in outcome. Visual art, and painting in particular, is an excellent vehicle for exploring and expanding our human comprehension of reality. A painting physically embodies the often ephemeral and instinctual process by which it is made. It does so in a particular way. A painting incarnates the conglomerated spawn of human imagination and reality.
